A Statement from the Town of Georgetown, Georgetown Police, Georgetown Fire, and Georgetown Public Schools Following Election and Budget Results

The following is a statement from the Town of Georgetown department leaders regarding the outcome of the recent town election and budget results:

“On behalf of the Board of Selectmen, we would like to thank residents for coming out and voting. The budget has officially been approved by taxpayers, and as a result, the town will implement the Fiscal Year 2026 budget on July 1,” said Town Administrator Orlando Pacheco.  “I wish to thank all residents who voted in the election, and I am grateful for the faith of our residents in supporting town services.”

“On behalf of the Georgetown Police Department, I would like to thank residents for their support during this year’s police budget. The funding will allow us to keep up with the cost of maintaining our current services. The budget will also allow us to expand programs and training and ensure proper staffing levels,” said Police Chief David Sedgwick.

“This support shown by our residents in this election will allow the Georgetown Fire Department to better meet the proper and safe firefighter staffing levels. Appropriate staffing will allow the department to better respond to emergencies, with the station being fully staffed throughout each shift. We are grateful for the support from our residents, and we will continue to deliver professional firefighting, emergency medical, and rescue services to our community as always,” said Fire Chief Matt McKay.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to the residents of Georgetown for their support for the Georgetown Public Schools during this year’s town meeting and election. The approval of the school budget allows the district to maintain current staffing levels and expand our curriculum, ensuring that we can move forward, putting the best needs of our children first,” said Superintendent Margaret Ferrick.
